Not on my Jeeps. I had a heavy winch bumper and tow bar built for my '87 Pioneer. Towed it 4,000 miles last year out West with no problems. Tow bar is removeable.

But I have also had a towing platform base plate/tow bar assembly on:

1982 Dodge Colt
1991 Ford Escort
1999 Honda Accord
2002 Honda Accord (still have this one)

If I was just out running around/touring for the day, I would leave the motorhome at the campground and use the tow car. I normally would not remove the stuff on the car unless I was going to stay in one place 2-3 days.

I don't usually stay in one place that long unless I am at Yellowstone or Disney World.
