shouldnt go much over 215, which is when the fan is supposed to kick on.
Mine runs right at 210, doesnt matter if its 70* or 30* out. I dont have a efan or a mech fan shroud...

You might need to make sure your auxiliary fan is turning on. Its supposed to turn on I think any higher than 215 if memory serves me right. Take a photo and show us how high its getting. Also make sure the auxiliary fan is actually plugged in and wasn't accidentally unplugged.

The vast majority of 4.0 engines will run between 200 and 210. There can be some variation.
Your temp shouldn't vary much though between city and highway. A trail push is a bit different.
Be sure cooling system maintenance is up to date. Fresh 50-50 conventional (green) coolant with a new 195 degree thermostat purchased either from Jeep or the Stant SuperStat. Fresh radiator cap as they are often overlooked.
Then see where you're at.
Also know that there can be some inaccuracy between the sending unit that measures the temp and the dash gauge.

Ive always wonderd about what temp they should sun at. Mine stays a little above the 1/2 way mark between 100 and 210 .. it seldom gets higher than that. 88 with the *closed* system.

In reality, there's no such animal as to 'a temp it should always be running/pointing at'. If going by the factory gauge, I would think something is out of wack if the gauge varied below 182.5F (motor warmed up winter) or above 235F (summer). This time of year (cool/cold ambient), I would think the needle would point somewhere between 182.5F and 210 in 99.9% of driving conditions, presuming a clean and properly functioning cooling system.
