Default What size is the engine oil drain bolt crush washer?in

Mine leaks a little, and hasnt been changed by me, so time to fit one next oil change

It would be good to know the correct size, I could probably guess, just use what I have on hand, or a generic from the parts store, but there is nothing like using the correct sized parts

4.0 L engine

There is no crush washer for the oil drain plug.
Just a plastic washer.
I bought one of these from my store to use on my '00 sometime ago.

There is a crush washer on the tranny drain plug though.

ok, no crush washer ?

odd that it is leaking (and has for a few oil changes)...I like to fix the easy oil leaks if I can

I am accustomed to seeing copper, and do have a bunch of used ones I could anneal

Dont really want to use fibre or plastic

just measured one that happens to be sitting next to me 3/4" OD x 1/2" ID X .030" thick, may work, I should have some smaller ones

Copper, steel, all fine
it's a washer, we're not talking a vital engine management component here LOL

You should be replacing it anyway in 5k miles..

I have used the metal crush washers the same diam as the main body threads...either 1/2 or 9/16. Cant remember...they seal well but grind away at the body of the oil pan...the blue plastic drain plug washers seal almost as well but don't destroy the pan over time. Get a set of 1/2 and 9/16 ...which ever one fits nicely on the drain plug is the one for you

Yes

you have convinced me

I recall the generic oil seal washers are blue, that is what I will fit

It may not be a vital engine component , but rogering the pan thread after decades of use is to be avoided

Well, we can always overthink a washer, awg
if I had a spare one, I'd measured it for you.
And not sure how seriously you go to town with your washer mate, but you made me Google the verb 🤣😂

spose I could wind it out enough threads to measure ideal ID and OD, wind it back in, no oil spill

we had a dude at work, I nicknamed him "passion fingers" folk would ask, what does that mean?....

Too complicated... go get a pack of 1/2 and 9/16 oil drain plug washers / gaskets. they are 3 or 4 bucks for a pack of 3...one of those sizes will be the correct fit. Those sizes are for the inside dia hole. The outside dia is whatever the thing is. They dont sell those washers / gaskets with different outside dia for the same inside dia.

I have an aftermarket oil pan from Spectra. My oil drain plug has an integrated metal flange that's coated in rubber. Seals well.
