what should i use to prevent rust
ok what should i use to prevent rust i hear trans fluid is a good one or some other oil mixture i dont have any rust i live in south dakota so rust not to bad of a deal sand more then salt on roads but what do you guys recommend
Never heard of trans fluid but just sand the area a bit and rattle can it black (cheaper to fix when you scratch it up). If your really worried about it then I would use a cheap bedliner, I like rustoleum. Soon I plan on coating the whole underneath while i've got the trans out.

Try this. It's very expensive but I bought an XJ that was driven in MI for 70k and I plan on coating the undercarriage in this:
It stops rust permanently, and it some very tough stuff. Recommend you check it out.

Special oil sprays (Krown comes to mind) are the best be-all-end-all solutions for this. Around town there are a few Krown and Rust Check lifers that look like they did when the rolled off the show room floor (well, if you waxed them they would)
If you're driving your Jeep through rivers and ponds though I'd suggest a rubberized undercoating on the exterior surfaces, and the oil compounds in the doors and body panels.
If you've already got rust going on underneath, wirewheel or grind that **** off, prep and prime it properly, then hit it with the rubberized undercoating. You can also look at products like POR-15 and bedliners (rubberized is better underneath than bedliner, IMHO)

Washing the vehicle and cleaning out the wheel wells every now and then will help. ATF will only attract dirt to stick to it and will eventually trap moisture.
