Default What should I do?

Ok so I have had my XJ for almost a year now. It's my first car, and I have fallen heads over heels for XJs. I want to deck it out for off roading, without the suspension being changed. I need it to be drivable off road as well as on pavement.
I have smaller wheels than the norm, which I'm changing ASAP.
It came with a measly two inch lift.
It's completely stock from there. What should I do?

A two inch lift wouldnt hurt in my opinion, plus you could clear 31's pretty easy, which would help your ground clearence a ton. You gotta make sure your not smashing or dragging important parts when your wheelin. I know there are skid plates to help this but you could also high center yourself without enough clearence. You have tons of possibilties with 4 grand. I wish I had 4k to spend on my car.... Go nuts and keep us posted with some pics.

ps: having a basic plan for your jeep is very important, but it sounds like you already have a good idea.

3.5" is max lift, without having to do a ton of other mods.

Lockers, Armor, 3.5" lift, OME shocks, 31" tires this will go nearly anywhere OFF-road and be comfortable ON the street.

Keep an eye out on craigslist. Getting a cheap set of tires can really help move things along, alot of people that cant afford the gas milage with some good 31 mudders that want the stock wheels will often sell the 31's cheap to get stock tires. Search for the good deals!!

I've worked my *** off to get that money. I was orginally saving for a car but my dad surprised me with my Cherokee. So I had a spare 2200 dollars that I just saved up. I thank my horrible social life for allowing me to work two jobs.

I wish i had all that money. I know what its like to have no social life hahahahaha. I was going to school and holding three jobs while living on my own. I loved it. Living on my own and deciding what to do with my hard earned cash. except for one of the 2 people i rented with.
I would have put all that money into my jeep
