What sensor is this?

87 jeep cherokee, 4.0. There is a sensor on the bottom drivers side of the block. Just above the oil pan about mid way on the block between the front and the back. Any idea what this is?

Coolant temp sensor for the ecu, i do believe.

Should be the Knock sensor.

Engine: 4.0 H.O. K&N, Borla headers, custom down pipe, magnaflow hi-flo cat, flowmaster to turn down tip

the knock sensor is farther torwards the firewall, the coolant temp sensor is closer to the fans and the front grill

If t he connector looks like a fuel injector, with the wire clip, its a knock sensor.
If not, just two wore connector its a temp sensor.
