Default What is this sensor?

Hi all, I've been tracking down an idle / misfire problem which started right after I had my oil changed, then I noticed that this sensor is bent (the plug with the blue wire, right by the oil filter under the distributor). What is this sensor called?

I'm hoping this is what's causing the idle issues, because I've already checked grounds, replaced plugs and wires and the fuel filter.

It's an 87 jeep cherokee pioneer 4.0 AT

Thanks!

Is that thing attached to the distributor or is it a broken oil pressure sender?

If attached to distributor then yes, it's likely the cause for your misfire or rough idle.

3X on the oil pressure sending unit. The thing is, It won't cause idle/misfire problem.

Default Thanks

OK, well I guess that isn't the problem then. It's really strange because I never had a problem until I got my oil changed last month, and since then I've been chasing a misfire that's gotten worse. Now when I start it it won't idle until it's warmed up. I guess I'll keep looking. Thanks all!

If you didn't do the oil change yourself, that is the first problem Check for broken vacuum lines also, the broken oil pressure sender is a good indication someone was a bit rough when working in there.

I would start with a complete tune up. Use good quality parts. You want to change cap, rotor, plugs and wires. When getting plugs use Champion copper plugs. Gaped at .035. Don't use the expensive plugs.
