I found it yesterday while plugging into my OBD-II port. No label, but just by looking and its wire color and plug size, does anyone know? I know the plug is blurry, but its the same size as the OBD-II port, with 8 connections in it. I can get a better picture of the plug in a little while if necessary...

Did a title company ever have possession of this Jeep before you got it? Mostly uneducated guess, could be a socket for a tracking device that some finance companies use.

I am unsure what it is, however mine is not plugged in to anything either.

BTW: The company I work QuikTrip, is opening a new division in Denver now that CO is allowing full strength beer sales in C-Stores. That’s why my XJ is Red and Silver.

I’ll look you up if I am in town!

There were two owners prior to me (that I'm aware of), and they knew each other... couple of older guys. So I would doubt that is the case. Plus that looks a lot like factory wiring since its all wrapped up into the rest of the main harness there.... I couldn't really get down on my knees to crawl under to see where it may go because everywhere you look there is snow and water on the ground, and my floorboard is wet and filthy. I'll grab a tarp or something to get up under and search for the mate...

Do you have an automatic or manual? I wonder if its transmission related or something and the harnesses were all built the same regardless... I have the AW-4...

Hmmmmm, gets me wondering more about the transmission. Could be way off though. I'll dig into it more this evening. and look into my Haynes manual for some electrical diagrams...

BTW I used to live in Townville, SC right on Lake Hartwell.... but that was almost 20 years ago...

Found 2 more unplugged connectors... WTF.

The larger one has a tag that says possibly "I.P. Speaker" Not sure if the I.P. part is correct. Was had to read, and there is no speaker nearby. The small one has no tag...

Likely just for unequipped options. My 96 is a base model and has its fair share of empty plugs.

Yeap Im in a Sport, so nothing fancy here. I suppose I'm not too worried about the 2 small connectors, but the large one seems odd to not have place to go...
I suppose I can check all the dummy lights and make sure they are all plugged in...

I believe your first plug is for the sentinel headlamp feature: http://cruiser54.com/?p=262

Very interesting.... Looks like that could be it. I'm gonna look for a P/N on my harness for peace of mind, and check another wiring diagram.
On a side note, what does the "I/P" stand for? One of my smaller disconnected wires is tagged I.P. speaker...

Nevermind. It stands for Instrument Panel, and it is for a speaker that would be installed near your left knee if you had a limited edition Jeep with 6 speakers. Ghuess I just found a nice spot to add some speakers!!!! Left & right side!!! I just so happen to have some really nice aftermarket 3" Infinity speakers in my garage, and an 8" pioneer SW I could use. And an amp... and wiring. Sounds like I have a project to start I forgot about. All that was originally for an old vehicle.

The one plug is, like you said, for the little speaker in the bottom of the dash. The other plug is for the under dash courtesy light. You can also add the courtesy lights if you find some in a junkyard.

I imagine you could wire up a set of speakers there, but I don't know how good the sound would be being that they are pointed down. Would you be setting them up to work with the other 4 speakers?
