Default What is this? Pics

Hello guys, I have an 88' xj laredo and im not really sure what this thing is. Right above it on the roof of the XJ is, wait, was, an antenna of some sort. im not sure if they came like this or something the PO did? it does not work and i can't really figure it out. Im not even sure if that antenna had anything to do with it but i'm not sure so i'm asking for you guys' opinions! thanks

i dont think it's a cb its just a little black box it pulls out of that sleeve looking thing. it looks like it could be a temperature thing or something i dont know. im stuck

Back in the day, people used to have to have external antenna's for cellular devices in the vehicle (aka cell phones). Possible it could be one of those?

Keyless entry I have same thing on mine, they didn't work so well though, had to be right up against the car for it to work

oh ok i got the thing on my keychain for it but my power locks are broke so it doesnt work

yea it works but you have to be real close to the door or the sensor for it to work

as for the antenna on the roof since its white just my guess it looks to either be an old cop car or a Forrest rig..

Naw that antenna on the roof, looks like it came from the factory with the xj, It looks wayy to clean and perfect for the PO to have put that there, What the Antenna was proubly for is the range of the Keyless Entry System, Thats why its you have to get so close to the cars sensor to open it becuase the antenna is gone. I have a keyless entry system on my 88 Laredo XJ, and the black little box on top is missin, But the anntena was not there at all. I guess the system has broke and they removed it.

Well I may aswell put a CB radio in since i already got a hole and place for an antenna
