I understand that this is a vacuum/breather line, but what is the rubber connector boot etc. called specifically?

The rubber "boot part" came apart & I need a new one. I would like to know what to ask the dealer for so I don't sound like a moron.

Thanks!

So, I need the rubber grommet for the ________.

My biggest fear when trying to learn about repairing this thing is my lack of knowledge & looking like a fool when describing parts.

There are several threads on this...this is what I replied the other day....

The Mopar name is the crankcase vent tube. The one in the front is PN# 5303 0991, the one in the back is 5303 0495. I had to replace the one in the front because I cracked it while I was trying to get it out so I ordered both of them plus the grommets they require(PN# 2946079). Total for all three parts was $21.13.

And some other mopar part numbers for all the pieces for the 2 different hoses for my 98. I guess they are the same for yours.

5303 0991--PN for the from outlet piece
5303 0495--PN for the rear outlet piece
2946 079--PN for the grommet for both pieces
4854 180-- Vent tube for front to the air cleaner box
4854 265--Vent tube for the back to the intake manifold

I had to go the dealer to get this stuff.

Advanced Auto Parts also carries a selection of PCV tubes. I've made one trail side before with a sway bar bushing, spark plug boot, silicone & a hose clamp, in case you don't want to go pay the stealership prices.

I bought mine at o'reilys in the help section. They had the grommet and the plastic elbow.

i don't think we have a pcv valve, i think we just have hoses that act as passages for the pressure to vent into the intake system.

Go the the dealer like I did, and ask for the rear CCV elbow grommet. Beware, the front and rear grommets ARE different. The rear one has a small restriction inside of it, as where the front is open all the way through.

Correction above: Jeep 4.0's dont have a PCV system. Those systems have a controlled valve which monitors air exchange in the crank case. CCV systems, which our cherokees have, constantly have a steady stream of fresh air cycling through the system. The back-drop of this setup is the common rear blockage, which causes blow by in the oil filter.

yeah we dont have a valve because it not very high pressure...btw that header wrap you got should hugely reduce under-hood temperatures...

Stupid question, wouldn't the header wrap cause the header to crack from the heat?

I wondered this too. I read somewhere that a guy bought one of those lifetime warranty APN headers, wrapped it, and it cracked.
