Default What part is this?

I know this is a noob question but I don't have a ton of experience working on cars but I have an auto mechanics class and I need to fix this

I assume you're talking about the busted pinion yoke with sheared off screw and remnant U joint cap, not the parking brake cable, the exhaust hanger, or anything else in the photo?

What happened, leaf spring break? That thing is sitting on one hell of an angle.

Dayum. Well, you can either replace the yoke outright or drill out the old screws and run U bolts.

I haven't done it, but a quick googling and it seems to be pretty easy to replace a yoke (just a nut to get out and it comes off?)
I wasn't paying attention to how to get it out when I had the DS out to do my Ujoints awhile back.

Rockauto shows driveshaft pinion yokes for like $60-80.

Since the driveshaft is already off, I would think 50% of the work is already done, but I could be wrong.

You do have the driveshaft still right?

You will have to get a new crush sleeve and reset the pinion depth. It would be alot easier to just drill it out and use u bolts.

There is only one broken bolt in yoke and it may come out easily. Use a dremel cut-off wheel and make a small slot on broken bolt, then use small flat-blade screwdriver to back it out.
Or a reverse drill bit.

U-bolts don't work very well in strap style yokes. They'd need machining on the backside to be right.

Replace the yoke. There's nothing to it.

you were right, I got my first chance to take a good look at it in the day light, somehow I over looked the fact that the leafs are in fact snapped
