What oil should i use?
I recently bought a 2000 Cherokee classic 4.0 with 130,000 miles, the oil pressure is slightly low and i was wondering if it would be better to switch to synthetic or high mileage motor oil, i live in michigan it will primarily be a daily driver with light off road usage in the future
thanks
thanks

as a fellow michigander.... run 10w-30. Synthetic or Oil it's your choice.

honestly the manual says to change to 5w-30 around freezing or so. I have had no issues with running mine with 10w in the winter. You aren't kidding on the weather this year....

U really should get your oil pressure verified with a known accurate mechanical pressure gauge. 0W30, 5W30, 10W30 and straight 30 are all the same vis at normal operating temp. The lower the 1st number, the quicker the oil will reach the top of the motor at start-up when below normal operating temp.

Watch the condition of your oil and for mystery coolant loss, real close.
"The heads that had trouble were the early #0331 heads (1999-2001WJ/TJ, 2000-2001XJ) before they were revised in late 2001 (revised heads have the "TUPY" foundry mark.) "
The first sign of trouble might be low oil pressure. (because of coolant in it) The "tupy" would be under the oil cap.
