Default What is this mystery part?

I found this part wedged between my passenger side motor and motor mount. '99 It must have fallen from somewhere? Anyone know what it is? It looked to me like the retaining mount for the distributer but mine is installed.

That is the hold down (or clamp) for the distributor. Without it, those two little fingers on the distributor will break off, and the distributor can rotate. That clamp has to be there. The lip on the end goes down, against the block.

I missed that you said yours is installed. In that case just toss it into your toolbox as a spare.

Yep that's it. Knew it instantly. Car companies have used those since the 50's. Not anymore of course.

I have an old toolbox filled with items like this. Old solenoids, shock mounts, spare tire carrier bolts, drum brake parts, bolts, screws, lug nuts, even an old foot dimmer switch, etc... you never know!!

Happens to me all the time. Then again, I probably only remember that I had it because I recently threw it away.
