I sorta see the flat lip on an 8.25, but thats about it. The problem is... they look very similiar when crawling under your jeep.

bottom is some kind of ford/toyota axle, it has a detatchable 3rd member (notice no bolts for a rear cover)
I honestly dont know how people cant tell between a 8.25 and a d35, theyre big time different. 8.25 has a bigass lip, d35 is round.

Its only inferior for when your putting on larger tires and doing actual wheeling. I'd say for a DD truck that never sees any off road, like 90% of the cherokees out there as you said, a D35 would be a great replacement depending on where you are.Originally Posted by _StationWagon_

Most ditch the D35s for cheap and seek out better, which drives the cost of those further up. Those D35s tend to be cheaper because of this. I'd sure as hell look for a D35 replacement if it was just a DD and I wanted to save some cash.
