I have found that a 1/4 can of SeaFoam in the engine oil at every oil change stops lifter noise. I run Castrol Hi-Mileage for the zinc content.

my buddy works at penzoil so i get free engine oil from them but i might switch to mobile one. and i used peak antifreeze and coolant when i flushed the radiator. now for the diffs i haven't done nothing to them, didn't seem important, and cost way to much money. never changed any diff fluid in my life and never had a problem. same for transfer case. and i only change tranny fluid when i check it and it aint red anymore.

okay, I was posting in a different thread, and then found this one...

I suck with the oil thing, ya'll seem pretty smart. here is the deal

-1998 I6 4.0L
-150,000 miles
-Climate - Temp Range from 0 to about 40 for the winter time. (state college, PA brrrrrr)
-been running conventional oil - high mileage from Mobil 1 i think...cant remember.

what should I use? can i switch to synthetic?

how about oil filters...i remember reading something about switching to a bigger one than is recommended...cant remember the reasoning behind that. any thoughts?
