Lately I've been doing alot of research into what kit to buy for my 98. It seems like Superlift is the only company with a COMPLETE kit that has everything needed in one package. Their 4" kit has shocks, coils, full leafs, track bar, track bar bracket, t-case drop, sway bar links, brake lines, upper AND lower control arms bump stops, pitman arm, etc.. It seems to me that all the other companies cut corners by not offering adj. track bars, control arms, using blocks for lift, etc. This is so they can advertise their "kits" at lower prices. I have not found a single kit by any other manufacturer that doesn't need to be supplemented with additional parts to make a truly correct and durable lift for the XJ. I love the idea of spending 500 bucks on a "complete" lift "kit", but I cant live with knowing that my axle is shifted to one side or not centered in the wheel well.. The price of the superlift is actually pretty damn good considering the amount one would spend in ordering a "kit" from say RE or RC only to have to pay to ship other parts to make the geometry all work out and the performance not suck. Superlift is rarely talked about on here. Anyone have any good or bad experiences to share? Any other thoughts on my ramblings?

i had good experience with rubicon express 5.5 inch extreme duty kit.
it came with everything but the shocks, which is more of a personal preference thing anyways.

this is true. also if its a real "kit" you should order your shocks AFTER you install the lift. You need to take measurements with the rig flexed out to get appropriate lengths for your shocks because EVERY rig is different.

Besides, you can make any kit a complete kit. I'd personally be afraid of a $500 lift kit. Made in China im sure.
If your going for a more budget friendly lift, then there ya go. But don't you think it would be worth while to spend a little more and feel assured it'll last and perform?

That kit looks complete, you don't really need new shocks...it makes a smiley face, too! With the leaves as the mouth and those...brake lines? as the eyes! I already have a lift, and I'm tempted to buy it!

IMHO, no company offers a COMPLETE kit. The 4.5" kit you describe is good, but. It provides a drop pitman arm which you don't need and a TC Drop, instead of a SYE which you do need. Sounds like they went cheap also. At 4.5" you don't really NEED a track-bar, although it is highly recommended. Shocks are pure option and those in kits are usually cheap crap. A good kit IMO would include only Top of the line OME or bilstine shocks or expect you to buy them separately. Same thing with a track-bar, it's nice to get one with a kit, only, if it the bar I want on my rig. For me the Only things I want from most kits is the springs, the rest I will get separately. Then again I wouldn't order a kit from a catalog or the Net. I would CALL several vendors and have them quote a Custom 'Kit" to my design and budget. May the best man win.

FTW!
cant wait to step up to long arms though
anyways, OP a "kit" is what everything together is called, a durr...
dont get caught up with the wording, look what comes within the kit, compare lift kits prices, what they come with. you'll find the best kits are the more expensive ones.

I take it the super lift is just a solid trace bar with just the drop bracket? if so it sounds like someone is cutting is a corner... As we know 1 set track bar length is not for every XJ thus the RE ADJUSTABLE TB in their "kit"!
