what is a H.O.??????
IMHO- There's really not that much difference in power between your Renix Engine and a H.O. Engine. The old Renix Motor has been and will continue to be an AWESOME Powerplant!!!

Thank you for the FIRST REASONABLE REPLY.
I am very sadly dissapointed in all the junior high comments and stupid remarks by others.
I felt that my question was legitamate and felt that I provided adequate information about my request.
I am hoping to increase the horspower and torque to improve towing and overall performance. I have read on various websites that to improve power and torque to change to a 2000 model intake system ( from cylinder head to throttle body ) but would like to upgrade to an aftermarket intake manifold, as I have replaced the stock exhaust manifold with that of an Edelbrock titanium header. If you have any recomendations or suggestions I would appreciate it.
Again my goal for this post is to improve power and torque of existing 4 Liter ( 4.0 Engine) Yes even my 4 year old daughter can tell that it is an I 6 or inline six cylinder engine. I am HOPING to get realistic, not 3 year old replies to this post for a legitamate question.
Thank you
Bolt ons will only do you so much good before you gotta start playing with the internals. I would pull and build a 4.6 stroker motor. What year is your cherokee? Because in your OP you said it was a 97 if so. Quit asking what you can do to make a H.O.. It already is!
As the motor in my 97 Jeep XJ is to be of HO Origins, I would like to ask for recomendations as to intake manifold, throttle body, and fuel injector swap to larger diameter swap.
To increase both power ( torque to be used when towing ) and hopefully an increase in gas mileage.
As I have already swapped out the stock exhaust manifold to that of Edelbrock Titanium, muffler to Flow Master, and air box to that of K & N filter charger, any recomendations would be appreciated.

Ill say it one more time. Bolt ons can only do so much. the biggest things yo can do is intake and exhaust, which you have already done. I dont think anyone makes an intake manifold for it. If your looking for big gains its time to start playing with internals!
I'm surprised nobody has said it yet, but, get your axles regeared. Go up to 4.10 for good towing. You already have close to 31" tires, which are larger than stock.
A lot of people get their axles regeared rather than engines built up. It's easier, and much more beneficial in my opinion.
Some Cherokees with the 2.5 I4 engine had 4.10 geared axles that would be a direct swap to your Cherokee.
