Cool Headlight out issue need help please!

I have an 87 Cherokee Limited. Recently, when I turn on my headlights, all the front lights go off but I have rear lights, except for the lic. plate lights. When I go over a bump, sometimes the front lights will go back on. When the front lights don't work, both turn signal indicators & hi beam indicator lights up. I did also notice that the driving light switch seems to light, even with the switch in the off position.

Trying to decide if it's possibly the headlight or the driving light switch that's the culprit.

Anyone have any experience with this sort of problem?

Not sure on the earlier ones (maybe someone esle will chime in) isn't there a main plug at the front under the airbox that has all the front end lighting wiring? I know i had a similiar issue with a 92 that i had.

Thanks for the info. Which ground should I be chasing? I expect there are quite a few. Something in the front?

not the fusible link. Funny thing is that the lights work when I first start driving, but after a while, if I stop and turn them off, when I restart & turn them on, the problem happens. Sometimes going over a bump with the front end makes them work, but lately, nothing seems to make them come back on.

Thanks. I have more specific info on what works & doesn't, if needed. It's tough to drive around, especially now when it's dark at 4:30!

X2 my 96' Xj's, both of them, had problems with a connector near the air box that ran all the front lights. Must be a bad place for moisture or something. at least if you check for power and ground you can rule out half the wiring there.

Thanks, I'll check it out. That may be why a bump will sometime make them work. Totally randomly on or off. Of course, only really need them on when it's dinner time & I'm grounded!
