When I first got the XJ I was parking it outside. Whenever it would rain I'd have water at the bottom of the passenger area. I wasn't sure what it was so I just started parking in the garage. Well, the other day this piece basically jumped into my hands from the top of the passenger-side door. So, I have a couple of questions that I'm hoping you fine lads will answer:

1) What is this called so that I can purchase a new one?
2) Is this definitely why I was seeing that little bit of water on the floor on the passenger side?
3) When you replace this is it recommended to replace other sections?
4) Do they sell these pieces as a kit to change 'em all out on the entire XJ?

Thanks folks

I purchased 2 OEM front door seals about a year ago. As far as I know they can’t be found anymore. Rock Auto and others sell them made by Fairchild. I tried one of the Fairchild door seals and it was difficult to close the door and they are cut to fit. Might not have any other choice though.

My guess would be that it goes on the top of the door frame. Team Cherokee sells a lot of weatherstripping but some of it is only for pre-96. Try comparing the driver and passenger sides to see what's missing.

Not sure in the US, but I took a piece of my weather strip to some rubber product outlet store thing, they had several in different sizes, sold per meter.
Probably 1/3 the price of an official Jeep one.

Or as a straight piece.... I know my 99 has one that looks like that in-between the back of the front and rear door "pillar" area.

Thank you! That is exactly what I was looking for. RockAuto has so much that if I don't know the specific names I never find what I'm looking for.

That's where it comes from. The top of the door frame there. I should have explained that better.

Yeah, this is what I'm going to do after I check RockAuto.

Yeah, I think it is actually a straight piece. I just bent it a little to get it all in the photo. I need to really look everything over and see what else is missing.

Thanks for the replies everyone. This is exactly what I needed to know.

Is this the same thing as what I have pictured up there? I believe so.

I guess you have a 2 door. You can get it faster than March 23 from other places. It looks like d3051 is for a 4 door.

Door seal , Look on the drivers door for a similar piece , Use some weather strip adhesive and put it back on . It looks to be in fair shape it was probably just loose since it jump in your hand. EDIT 3m sells good ws adhesive for under $10
