sounds like it could be the "power" and "comfort" switch.

Power/Comfort switch
Adjusts the shift points.

Newer ones are locked in "Power", Just put it there and leave it.

I believe you may be refering to the tranny "power" button. It is on the right side of the steering column closest to the column. If you engage this buton your transmission will hold the shift points longer and give you more power. If you leave it disengaged you will get better fuel economy.

awesome... that sounds right.... any opinions on which setting to leave the truck in... basically, light on or off?? just wondering if either option messes the tranny up faster...

Ive heard from a few people that the TCU "Feathers" the clutches in "Comfort" for a softer shift and it wears the clutches faster. Dont know if its true or not, I never take mine out of power.

Also, the "better fuel economy" thing is commonly argued.

It changes the shift points. When in comfort it shifts at lowers rpms and in power it shifts at higher rpms.

When driving around town I leave mine in comfort. When I am out on the trail of towing a load I put it in power.

X2.....The only time I switched it to power, was pulling a trailer through some pretty hilly country side. Also listed in the owners manual.
