I totally agree w/ 87 XJ. Except for the OBD-II system that I argue with to get codes from, It's super simple to work on, reliable as all hell, turns on a dime (just don't try whipping a U-ey at anyting above 30), goes thru the snow liked a raped ape, makes me $$$ pulling all the soccer moms, mall crawlers, and little dicked ****** with the H2/3's and big 'ol jacked up pick-ups out of ditches, chicks dig them, and when I walk outside today, I know as sure as getting the clap in a whorehouse, It's gonna start.

A pal had a '95 (he bought it new) with over 300k miles on it, he beat that rig like a rented donkey, and never did anything but GOF... and never had an issue.
I searched one out based entirely on what I'd seen his live through. I found a leftover '97 when the '98's had been out a while and have been daily driving/wheeling it ever since. To this day there is nothing on the market that I would remotely consider replacing it with.
Cheap to operate/maintain.
Cheap to modify/improve.
Simple/straight forward to work on.
I've replaced the water pump, radiator and 1 window regulator in the last 265k miles.
When released, it set the standard for true sport/utility vehicle, and won best 4x4 of the year, year after year... in my mind it still sets the standard.

My 1988 Wagoneer Limited
It has woodgrain
Wood is good
Chicks love wood
It has high mileage
It still runs strong
It is reliable
Chicks dig reliable
I have altered its height
I drive it on the beach
Sand gets everywhere
Chicks dig that
It has hidden talents
It alters as a gardening tool
It removes unwanted growth
Chicks love gardening tools
It will go anywhere
Off road
To the mall
Chicks love malls
Buy a Jeep
If you don't own one
You lose
Chicks hate losers
