Default What do I do?

So heres the deal ive got an 88 cherokee with 245000 miles on it but it runs and I really want to put a lift on it so I can go more extreme with it. So my question is should I spend the money and put the lift on it and then tires and all that junk or should I just scrap that and maybe get a new engine so that its at top game.

so just let me know what you think any advice is great

thanks camomudder666

I would make sure it is mechanically sound first, the engine, trany. It would be shame to have it all nice and not running,245.000k is alot of miles. Just my opinion.

I'd say that probably only you can answer that. Mine has 177,000 and it holds good oil pressure, doesn't smoke, and no misses. It's as sound enginewise as my '08 Hemi lol. If all seems good I'd do the lift and tires and have fun.

Default 245K?...

how well does the engine run? how (well) has it been maintained - do you know it's history, or did you buy it with close to the 245k on it? unfortunately a lift and larger tires would be no good to you if the engine takes a crap. if you feel comfortable with the condition of the drivetrain lift that sucker and don't forget to get some before and after pics for us, we love pics!

The engine isnt too bad ive climbed a few sandy hills with it over by my place and it did ok, but when I hit the gas it takes a few seconds to really kick in and start moving is there any way to change that? Ive also been told that the engine is a leaking pig by my dad whos a mecahanic but he says not to worry about the engine so ill talk to him about it. Thanks for the advice anyway ill put a few pictures up so you can see what goes on

you can buy a lift and wheel it till the damn thing breaks and just transfer all your stuff over to another xj or (this is what i would do) cut the fenders take off the doors wheel it how it is until you actually break it, i had a beater and i did that to it and i called a towing company and got about 400 bucks for it. if its a potential DD then fix any/all problems with it and be chill with it. just MO
