Just for the record, the ol' screw driver through the filter never works as good as you think it will. A huge pair of channel lock pliers works very well. Never use grease on the oring, only oil, and never use a wrench to tighten the filter.

Pretty cool that he actually took the step to call you back after realizing he gave you the wrong one.

If you are going to do your own oil changes on your jeep, pick up a oil filter socket, not wrench. I think they are like $7-ish. Looks something like this:

They are a life saver. And dont buy the plastic ones, those suck. I use those all the time at work, or the 3 fingered claw type.

I bought one of the claw type ones works pretty well. I know some people can just grab em and twist em off but I have never been able to do that lol.

Yeah, just had a stuck one myself, and almost didn't get it with a wrench. It occured to me that I'd had it done at oilcan henry's and they tend to put filters on with a wrench for some reason. Tried the screwdriver thing and could feel the inner filter snap off in side. Nearly tore the shell in half before giving up and borrowing a wrench, and like I said that almost didn't work!

If I ever go back I'm gonna make sure I tell them not to use anything other than hand tight.

X2 and i have used an "oil filter remover" that cost like 20 bucks, and honestly a big ol' of channel locks works best. but make sure they are the long nosed ones.

i tell ppl if i cant do the work i know someone that can, i cant stand taking any car to a shop, they try to get you in and out and dont really think about what they are doing and over tighten things all the time.

had to replace my clutch and the last person to touch my tranny was a trany shop when they regear it for me. i broke 2 bolts off, got pissed grabbed the tow dollie and hooked it up took it to them and made the trany shop replace both bolts and take the ones that where left out, they ended up barking 2 more. the owner fond out and i pay the shop like 60 bucks to fix what they missed up as well as put my clutch in. sad part is the owner is a good family friend.

Don't put the filter on with any kind of wrench. Hand tight and that is all!
