Default What is D30 and D44

I am looking at this 87 xj that has D30 and D44 and I have no idea what he means by that I am new to jeep cherokees and was wanting to know what it means what are the benefits? does it fix common problem on xj? I tried to do a search but I could not get any results in search function.

those are the axles you have under your XJ, Dana model 30 up front and a Dana model 44 in the rear,those are the best axles to have,if that XJ has the tow package it ma also have Limited slip in the rear which is as good as haveing a posi.

Oh ok and what is low pinion and high pinion? I remember doing brief read and saw that.

From what everyone says, those are the axles you want. A lot of people, it seems, swap their the Chrysler 8.25 for the Dana 44... that's about all I know about it. I'm not sure yet what the big deal is about the Dana's... Are they stronger?

low or high is how the drive line enters the axle,on the older XJs like mine its the high pinion more clearance

sure thing,also there will be a little metal tag on the rear diff cover that will tell you gear ratio and if it has LSD

its not on CL thats the thing he send me a pm because I was looking for a jeep like month ago. He just pmed me on local forum about it not really a link.
