it is your valve cover breater hose, it lets ur valve cover breath(correct me if im wrong)

you're right. believe it or not most sites list both of them as breathers, but the back one is a PCV.

my 2.5s only got one lol, but ya they do leak oil sometimes, but i took mine off when i made my air intake, and just put a mini air filter on it!!! not a problem so far..

might effect the vacuum. how did you seal the other end of the hose?

i did it when i had the valve cover off. it will break off coming out. i broke the head and stuck a punch in there and pried it off. then i thought that i might have been able to cut slits on the grommet to relieve the strength.

I know i probably sound like an idiot i have not had a whole lot of mechanical experience. dont laugh when i ask this but on a scale of one to ten how time consuming and difficult is removing the valve cover mine is in need of a new paint job the previous owner lived in the keys so the salt has not helped...

just the screws that hold it down. a monkey can get it off. although i think he might have a hard time painting it and cleaning it. hmm, you never know. 21st century, anything is possible. but anyway, the hose clamp on the thermostat housing will get in the way a bit, but that's not really an issue. it is a good opportunity to go ahead and get that hose off, drain the coolant and put a new thermostat and coolant in while you're at it. oh, and a new valvecover gasket. just don't overtorque the screws.

ok thank you i have always just drove the **** out of my vehicles but since this is my first vehicle i own i want it to run like it was built yesterday so therefore i will do everything in my power to make my baby purr lol
