If the throttle body has 3 bolts on it i will guarantee it is a renix. If it has 4 bolts, its an ho. If it is actually a 90 and has never had an engine swap, its a renix, if there is no radiator cap on the radiator itself, that means it has a closed cooling system, which is a renix system.

The yellow connectors should be on top of the black plastic shield, not underneath. Fail, haha. I hope you see this before you go look and get confused. Speaking of the cooling system, my upper radiator hose somehow was starting to come loose. I heard what sounded like a vacuum leak when I shut the engine off and then got really confused. Then I smelled antifreeze and popped the hood. Sure enough, it was dripping from where it connects to the radiator. Must've just happened too because nothing was slung onto the bottom of the hood from the fan. I pushed it back further, tightened the clamp, and it was fine. I could literally almost pull it off with the clamp still on there.

OleBlue, I actually never thought of the TB bolts. Good point!
88jee, I agree completely. The radiator support goes right over it and makes it hard to get to unless you get the perfect angle. I put the screw head as close to the top as I can and then just go slow to make sure the screwdriver doesn't come off. Still only took me about 5 minutes to fix it today though, haha.

well guys i looked at it last night
went to open the hood and it would only open about 4-5 inches
but what i could see its it looked a little different from my 99
this had what looked to be a coolant hose (or bigger hose) running along the left side of the motor, where my plug wires are
couldnt see a radiator cap either.....sorry guys but i dont know why the hood wont open...and the owner doesnt like me snooping around his jeep
sorry but im sure its a renix from what i was told

So, the guy doesn't even have it forsale and you went to open the hood and look around it and didn't ask him?
That's a good way to get shot around here.

I asked about it over a year ago when it was sitting there...they said at that time they were not sure about what they were going to do
well a year later its still sitting......i asked again last night...she kinda "dismissed" the subject, almost like it has some emotional value
anyway, everyone where i live calls eachother by first name, its not uncommon to have like 4-5 neighbors come over for a beer in one night
if you ever been to michigan (especially holland area)....perfect strangers will talk to you for a hour about anything ....very friendly dutch community here!

my 90 renix was fine after fixing 100k mile bugs in system .. bought it with 108k .. the new vacuum harness (octopus) was a big helper
now up to 160k in 5 years .. runs great / powerful .. finally found the demon of a gremlin thats been haunting me
the typical oil filter adapter leak .. dripped right into the wire harness tube for battery cables .. the ground to engine block was completly soaked / worn / melted almost / oily wire showing .. entire length of wire had oil in insulation, but most of it was deteriorated / grimey
I just found that after cleaning up the engine block ground wires, then had a few no starts .. thought it was loose battery terminals .. no .. cable was toasted
replaced that with some industrial grade scrap wire from work .. no more weird idles / pauses
bought a 93 so I didnt have to deal with replacing the closed cooling system .. and dont like the vacuum actuated 4x4 at all, unless in deep snow
I did find the Stant coolant cap didnt fail as the dorman would. it actually vents somewhat .. went thru a recov bottle every 10-15k, or cap would blow apart .. so i have a backup bottle & cap & coolant always in that jeep

I have stuff like that too, I never use but isn't for sale under any circumstance. There's a story behind each item, lol.
