Yeah I think its just an accumulator, less variation in the pressure of the system. Just relocate it somewhere, don't pitch it.

Vacuum canister.

Controls your ventilation system. Probably has some other function that I'm too lazy to think about or remember.

There is also a large "pill" shaped one is for vehicles with cruise control.

tyrhine....hey I've talked to you enough that I should know your real name. Mine is Brian but, I've been called Buck since I joined the Navy 23 long years ago.
Anyhoo.....the little vacuum bottle that is inside the passenger side of your front bumper is a resevoir for your vacuum accessories. Don't disconnect it or your heater controls will quit working. Also if you have a vacuum disconnect fron axle switch, that will quit working. I do recommend that relocate it up inside the engine compartment somewhere. That is what I did with mine when I put my ORF front bumper on. Plus it just puts it up out of harms way from trail debris.

if you take it out simply plug up the line. Ive taken that out and the vac canister that is next to the motor next to oil filter. removed all lines and plugged where necessary.
IMHO the motor runs as good or better, haha.
and yes all my controls still work even at high way speed.
I have not thrown any of that crap out yet though. Im going in for an inspection later next week, just wanna make sure I pass smog before I 69 every thing.

Tyler, you can $hitcan your vacuum bottle if you want to but disconnecting it in my 91 XJ made my heater controls and axle vacuum disco quit working. I'm keeping mine.

x2 on blkcherokee. The vents are vacuum operated, so without that canister, the vents will default to the defrost as a safety measure

Also that vacuum canister holds vacuum for the cruise control.

I tested my heater controls with the vac bottle off when i did my radiator replacement. All the controls still worked but they were MUCH slower to change from vent to heat etc.... than if i had the bottle hooked up.
