What is too much lift for a DD? I found a cheap lift that was used, measures out to be around 7". Is this too much for a DD/occasional trail rig? If their was one thing for me to be scared about in jeeps, it would be rolling it over. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

As always, if this was asked before then could someone please redirect me to that thread.

IMHO that is too much lift. I am shooting for around 5" to keep the COG low and then going to trim and bumpstop to fit 35's. What size tires do you want to run? Do you wheel on alot of off camber stuff where roll over is a real worry? On the street as long as you leave the sway bars connected, 7" shouldn't be an issue as long as you are mindful of the fact that you are driving a lifted jeep and not a sports car

I'd be running 35's on the 7", trimmed. Is it possible to maybe take some inches off, maybe make it 5.5 or 6?

Depends how the lift is set up. If its coil spacers and shackles on top of springs then it might be possible to remove the spacers and shackles to lower the lift height. I'd have to see some specifics on the lift to tell you for sure.

for the rear its probably possible because most likely it has shackles at that height but the front depends on if its all spring or spring and spacer like budget xj said need some details on the lift

its all a matter of opinion. it depends if you mind a little rough of a ride on a daily basis or that kind of "rolling" sensation of a litfted vehicle on the street. if you dont mind things like that then that amount of lift is fine for a DD. if you dont want to deal with some of the issues of a vehicle that has been lifted a lot day to day, a smaller lift would probably be better. i currently have 6.5" of lift on mine but im getting ready to jump to 7.5". its my daily driver but i dont mind dealing with a vehicle that doesnt exactly ride like a lexus all personal preference in my opinion.

At that height you're looking at a lot of other parts.

SYE/CV
upgraded steering/high steer
that's way beyond LA territory
gearing for the 35s...

There's a bunch of thing to consider

Also you can cut the coils a bit if needed and leave out a shakle or something.

I'm right at 6"(7" this weekend) and it's my DD. Even on stock steerings it's fine as ling as you don't mind some DW and bump steer.

Like others have said there are a lot of other things to add on top of this. Plus you will not be able to run your short arms it needs to be at least long arms
