Welding Spiders???
Ok, I hear of people welding up the spider gears in the rear OR in the front with locking hubs.
But what about welding both?
And do you have to use locking hubs in the front when you weld them?
P.S. I know this puts alot of stress on axle shafts and such. Keep in mind it's just a temp untill I can get some D44s...

i welded my rear and its a DD. i think its fine to weld as long as you weld it right. dont weld the front unless you have locking hubs.

Because you will not be able to steer the wheels on asphalt unless moving. When you steer on loose surfaces off road, you will just go straight, well, maybe a little curve to it.

cause it will be hard to turn and drive on the street. when you turn the tires roll at different speeds. if they are welded they cant turn at different speeds and will bind can cause you to break things. axle shafts, drive shafts, transfer cases, u joint, etc.... they same is true about the rear tires turning at different speeds but not near as bad as the front. and if the front is locked its just harder to drive and control on the roads especially if wet

I have an article from a magazine that I get that describes how to do it and has a couple pics.. if you need I can scan and send it to you. It'll be a while though as I'm leaving for Florida in twelve hours lol. But if you still need it when I get back in a couple of weeks I'd be glad to send it to you
