I have the typical exhaust manifold leak, when I removed the air box to clean it, I can see where the crack or one of the cracks Are, I don't have time right now to change it out, I was wondering if I threw a few welds on it to silence it for now, would I have to disconnect the ECM or could I get away with just disconnecting the battery? Thanks for any help

You would want to pull it to property prep then get a good weld, trying to do it in the jeep would be a bad temp bandaid

Pull the manifold off, its not that difficult. Then weld it.

Just replace it. Welding it won't last long and you gotta pull it off to do it right anyway.

To answer your question, you can leave the sensor and just disconnect the batter so long as the spot needing to be welded isn't near the sensor. Otherwise I would remove it to avoid damaging it by heat. Also depending in where the crack is you might get away with welding it on the jeep but as others have stated its best to remove it completely for prep. But if your going to remove it for weld might as well put on a new one cuz no point in doing the job twice.
