Default weird squealing noise

so sunday i was out and was hammering thru some real soft sand in 2wd and then instantly started getting a squealing noise , sand in the brakes ? well thats what i thought but i hit the pedal and the pitch of the noise stays the same ,but shortly it went away then just a little sound here and there from it thru out the day , but mainy when it was under most stress like if im really on the gas and spinning my wheels and something is heating is up , it sounds like its coming from the center of the truck , possably the u joint on the rear drive shaft closest to the transfer case , but i cant be totally certain , the u joint isnt loose or banging ,maybe just some sand worked its way in there ???? is it possable if a u joint is dryed up inside to even make a squealing noise like this ? what about maybe the transfer case output shaft bearing ? has anyone experianced this before ?

I live in Fl and can tell you from experience thats the problem with sand. It can get almost anywhere. It could be in the u-joints, if your lucky, or the slipyoke or any of the bearings in your driveline. Ive seen guys with completeley sealed bearings that still get sand in them when they wheal on the beach.

nah I got the same goddamned noise. It started after some 4 wheelin near Reno (lotsa mud) I didnt notice it untill I drove back home to CA. Anyway I accidently left the jeep in 4wd for a bit on the highway (it didnt disengage when I selected 2wd??) I did alot of pretty fast mud playing in 2wd and 4wd....I thot it was mud but it still has a metallic squeek after i powerwashed it. I put the front end on stands and the squeek seems to come from either the tcase or a ujoint on the front driveshaft (it has alot of play too)

BTW...thinking itll go away hasnt worked. Now I have a clicking noise that is getting louder everyday. Im planing on replacing ALL u joints. (got 130,000 w/o replacement)

I fixed mine , it was the u joint at the top of the of the drive shaft near the transfer Case , when I got the old one out the needle bearings were so destroyed only a fine powder came out when I pulled the end caps off the joint lol
