Allright guys I have a 98 power windows, locks, mirrors. I've noticed after I shut it off after about 15 seconds I hear a loud buzzing or growling sound. It only does it for maybe a second. I've tried finding it but of course when I'm actually down there looking it never does it. From what I can tell it's coming from the area around the hood release. Past that I'm at a loss.

 

Coolant moving around?

 

Sound like warrning buzzer for keys in ignition door open or light on ?

 

Kinda. But not as high pitched. It does it even if the doors are closed.

 

I don't think so it sounds electrical.

 

Does it do it when you key on? Anything like the noise the pump makes when it primes? Is ignition loose and not completely disengaging components? Tough to say. Any more info?

 

Vacuum operated doors in your HAVAC unit going back to sleep...or leaking down when the vacuum source (engine) is terminated...or something like that. My POS 2000 T&C does that.

 

I think this is it. I never even thought about it sounding like a vacuum leak down. Thanks everyone.

 

That's it. Both my POS Grand Voyager (wife loves it don't blame me) and the XJ do it. Took me forever to figure out what that creeeeeak...thunk noise was.
