see the lil black dome what is that thing? this is not my jeep but my jeep has that in it, so I was wondering what the hell it is

It obviously does, just no key fab.

 

No, I have some cheap *** aftermarket key, and not like I can take it out, there would be a huge hole there

 

Go buy a key fab, got mine for $65

Yea, go buy a key fob. That dome is the receiver for it.

 

My dealership was able to give me one from a 03 jeep and program it to mine

 

Ive got the same black dome on the centre roof console of my old xj 93 limited. Its definately for the keyless entry. I have to hold the key fob right up next to the window glass and aim it at the dome to get the doors to lock or unlock.. if theres anything on the glass at all, like rain, youve no chance. I dont know if all the old I.R systems are that weak or if its just mine.

 

its your key fab, the infrared probably has a very low frequency(<240) It cheaper and easier for them to program it low than it is to get it around peak IR which is 300THz.
