Default WEIRD ............

2000 JEEP CHEROKEE - just bought it recently.
Oil cap will not unscrew !!!!!!
Feels like the inside of the cap is stationary and the actual "****" that you actually turn just spins. What the H _____ is that all about ?

I guess I can get a big Channel Lock or ViceGrip, but do not want to break
anything and have it drop down into the head .....

What are your thoughts ??? Randy from Oceanside, CA

This happened to me...twice. I just used a pair of pliers to get the cap off then bought a stant the second time. It's a one piece, so this can't happen anymore.

My 98 did the same thing. I just pulled of the top part and used a pliers to unscrew the rest. nothing will fall in.

Mine did it. I can't remeber wether I started it and warmed it up, or if it was hot and I let it cool down. It was one of those, and it came right off. I think it was overtightened because it hasn't done it since then and that was on the first oil change after purchase.

Same here. I popped the top off, then used a big pair of adjustable pliers to unscrew the base. Nothing fell inside.

I may have to look into the 1-pc. Stant unit. I ended up replacing with an OEM, but I'm not wild about the racheting design anyway.
