Default Waterpump question (Omix-Ada)

Just received my O-A waterpump from the US, but inspecting before installation noticed part of threaded section (where heater hose fitting screws into) appeared to be missing a chunck. Not sure if thats supposed to be like that. Seen that before?
(the hole on the back near to it, doesnt hold a bolt or anything, so also wondering why thats there).
Thanks for your input.

Yes, I have seen that before. And to be perfectly honest with you I have no idea why it is like that. The last pump I put on my Jeep was like that. I just wrapped the threads with teflon and never gave it a second thought. I installed mine about 3 years ago and never had a problem with it.

the piece "missing" is so symetrical i have to believe it's part of the milling process after it's been cast, but i have no first hand expience. just an observation is all. looks to have enough thread left so it won't leak, but like Torrez said a lil tephlon can be some good insurance.

Pretty sure that's just the way the pump housing is cast.....plenty of threads there and as RT said, use some thread sealer.

Thanks you 'veterans'. Was already a bit disappointed to get an Omix-Ada pump amd then find that. Saves the big hassle of having to send it back. Teflon it is, thanks once again.

Just for completeness: I contacted Omix-Ada regarding this and sent the pictures. They stated this appearance is normal and due to the assembly of the different parts and the way they are put together (in case somebody rund tinto this same thing in the future).
