Default water pump tube

i got a 89 xj and i need a new water pump tube. my local dealer and parts store cant find one. anyone know where is a good place to get one i only find them for 91 and up xj's i really dont wanna add the brass fitting trick unless i really have to. or i might just go to the junk yard and pull one

Why are you against the brass fitting? I prefer that way anyhow. Makes things much easier to work with.

^^^^This. Did ours 4 years ago, works great, easy to do, cheap ($2-$3 at just about any hardware store). A nipple that's 3/8" MNPT X 5/8" hose barb. It does require a slightly longer 5/8" heater hose.

It's brass, not steel, so it won't rust/corrode. It's cheap and available at tons of hardware/auto parts stores. It does require a slightly longer 5/8" heater hose. Ooooops prcherokee, u beat me too it. LOL

No doubt... And i use it religiously

Just never occured to me to modify the tube... Mine isnt bad... Just could have saved a few dollars on my cooling system overhaul

When we got our XJ, that OE metal tube had rusty, very pitted/thin spots on the outside and we couldn't find one locally. Got the brass fitting idea from another member here on the forum......can't remember who, but many thanks to them.

I know dorman makes an aftermarket replacement.. its the one I bought. Were they all out of stock?
