Water in the cylinders is never good...
On saturday i hit a puddle that was too deep for my pour jeep. Water filled my intake and a few of the cylinders. I took the spark plugs out and got all the water out of the intake. Turned it over and now all the water is drained out. I drained the oil (and lots of water). So far i have replaced the starter, cap n rotor, wires and plugs. Hopefully i will get the starter in and fill it back up with oil tonight. Is there anything i should check first? I can turn the motor freely with a ratchet on the crank bolt so nothing is bent or broken internally... Thanks for the help!

You should be ok as long as you took the plugs out and cranked it to get the water out of the cylinders and of course changed the oil. If it were me I'd change the oil again in a few days just to be safe..

second on the rechanging of the oil.. you wont know what else it needs til it fires.... why did you have to replace the starter? preventavily or becaus it died?... had an altima in the other day same poblem... number one cylinder filled to the top... did what you just described. also had a fun Volkswagen in that did the same thing however it still ran didn't suck up enough... but oil was filled with water, intake pipe and the best one... the intercooler.... made an awesome bong noise at idle.... think of the intro to sublime - smoke two joints

starter needed to be replaced because it was shot after sitting under water for a couple hours. I started it up last night it ran pretty good. It was a little choppy at idle and after driving for about 10 minutes i could smell a lot of unburnt fuel. I think maybe the o2 sensor is bad. The check engine light is on. I read somewhere that you can get the code just from turning the key a couple times. Is this true and if so how does it work?

check engine light probably on for misfires. if its running fine have the codes scanned at an autozone or other parts store for free and have them clear them out. chances are good they will just clear out. otherwise you may have to do some more digging and looking for a flooded electrical component or what not. as for the other the rest of the driveline... in theory those components... ie diff or tc or trans. are sealed units and should have no way of letting water in... with that said it's only a theory and in theory communism is great in practice.,.. not so much

I got all of the carpeting and everything back in... What a pain in the *** this has been! But I think the iddle air control sensor is bad because it runs really rough at iddle. Also has a new tps sensor. Any ideas?

Maybe check for condensation in that new cap? Might have been wetness in the distributor....
As far as the drive components, they all have vents. Thinking better safe than sorry as it's all spendy stuff, with fluid you want to change now and then anyway.

Yes there was water in there. I replaced cap rotor wires and plugs already. Also changed all the fluids except tranny fluid. Doing that Tuesday

I was thinking left over moisture in the dizy might condense on the inside of that new cap. Just a thought. Grab her hair drier!
A guy who had flooded his crankcase with fuel had his distributor explode. I guess vapor can get up past the bushing. Condensation inside the dizy can let the spark go the wrong way.
