Default Back seat brackets

Has anyone relocated the back seat brackets on a 2000 xj. I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about making enough room for a baby seat. Obviously it would have to be stronger than stock. Welding is not a problem.

To move the whole bench backwards? You'd need to move the whole thing up and back a bit as the seat and back meet on an angled transition between the passenger and cargo floors (frame rails bend up to flear the rear axle)

This for a rear facing seat? I've never heard of fitment problems with a forward-facing one. Also if your XJ doesn't have them, Chrysler has a TSB that will install hooks for free so you can secure it.

I hear a TJ seat fits nicely back there. You can have it as far back as needed.

I figured I would have to bring it up higher but that should be ok. thanks for the info on the hooks. I'm gonna getthat done before I move the seat.

Yes. It's for a rear facing one. If I can't make everything work comfortably the wife is making me get rid of my xj.

Egads! That's awful. We'd better get you fixed up

Lazy way out IMO would be to flip down the rear bench and set the car seat on that, fab some brackets so that it will mount securely like that. Or its possible you could simply hook into the mounting of the front seats (where they bolt to the floor nearest the rockers) and the pegs that the bench uses to attach to the rocker backing plates.
