washed the engine= no more tach reading
Just washed the engine and the tach stopped working. I was expecting the car to not even turn on after i washed really.
Any idea what i could have potentially shorted? I looked at the fuse box under the hood and its all good.

Let it dry overnight. If it still is not working in the morning start disconnecting all the electrical plugs under the hood and make sure they are dry.
I have encountered all sorts of electrical gremlins after powerwashing an engine and letting it dry completely usually cures them.

STOP WASHING YOUR ENGINES! It only leads to problems. If oil is coming out of a gasket, water is going to get in that gasket and cause problems. Electronics do not get along with water. They are engines, they get a little dirty.
I wanted to wash it to see where the oil was leaking from. I guess bad idea.

I have not pressure washed an engine since 1994, I had a 1986 Nissan Sentra back then, washed the engine killed it for good, even letting it dry did not work. So... never again. If i have to do anything with washing engine parts, I spray it with degreaser and use a low pressure pump sprayer used for garden fertilizer to rinse it.

You are not supposed to use pressure in the first place......I have always washed my cars's engine and never had a problem. I just use the hose with not too much pressure and use Simple green or anything similar. I let it sit for a bit (rub if you have to) and then rinse. I usually wipe where I can and let it dry before driving it. I washed my Jeep's engine 2 months ago and nothing wrong to report.
I did it with a mist not even hose pressure. The car is in a pretty ****ty shape so i bet there some wires that are simply exposed to open air.
I only can wash the car at a car wash, i would never wash it at in the driveway, all that grease and oil will make its way into the lakes. Car wash has a filtration system.
