They make them for the 72-80 CJ, which has a D30

Warn and Mile Marker make a kit to convert the xj/yj/tj/zj/wj D30 to manual lock-outs but they ubber pricy. i've read about alot of Warn failures and warrany issues after blowing them up.

Caveat emptor

ive never really seen the point in them anyways really... my dad had a buddy in a blazer that had them and left the dirt back onto the highway and forgot to get out and unlock them... it froze up on him and set him into a series of flips... killed him and the dude with him... after that story ive always kinda steered away from vehicles with them... lol

I'm very curious about what "froze"... I know lots of folks leave them locked all the time. I would suspect something else besides locked hubs caused that accident (having covered a fair number of accidents).

But yes, the Warn and Mile Marker kits ain't cheap.

Those D30s were old school. They take the same gears, and lockers as the low pinion D30 today. Those had strong spindles that were bolted on with six bolts and a different knuckle. Also two roller bearings on the spindle. Bolt pattern was the traditional Jeep 5 on 5 1/2. They were a strong set up for a small ring and pinion. The warn kit, uses the Ranger spindle and hubs, much smaller and weaker. These will not take the abuse the old ones did.

i have no idea... dad told me that when i was younger and ive just steered clear of them... lol... they may be alittle stronger on some axles but ive never seen them as anything i would want to swap too just because of having to get out and mess with them... which sucks when your a foot deep in mud already or something... rather have in cab... lol
