Want lift!
I have a stock 96 XJ and want to go up 3inches to run 31's. The truck has 189,000 miles and is still showroom clean and runs like a champ but gets stuck fairly easily. I want to stay on the cheap and go with an add-a-leaf kit but my rear springs are flat. Am I going to have a problem with heighth?
Thanks for any help.

if your springs are flat then i wouldnt advise against going with the AAL because it will just return your springs to their origional state in about 6 months.
a good option would be to go to quadratech and buy the HD OEM leaf packs which are HD stock packs for the XJ then put the AAL in those. I believe the packs are like 70$.

I guess I really need to look a another stock cherokee and see how much arc is supposed to be there initially. I've found Rough Country AAL kits now on ebay for 250 w/shocks. Seems like a deal. I guess really all I want to do is run 31x10.50 Dick Cepeks without rubbing.
Also, will a 3in give me a lot of vibration?

i still wouldnt do an AAL even if my jeeps packs were in mind condition. they WILL sag over time its just a matter of how long and the on road ride will be horrendous.
i would highly suggest going with some quadratech packs and some shackles.

Not to disagree on the ride quality of the aal, but i have to. Mind you it's from personal experience. I put the rough country 3 inch with aal on my ride and i love it. My packs were sagging, now they are not. Ive been running now for a few months and there still holding true. I did however upgrade to Rough countrys nitro shock, I'm sure plays a part in it as well. I did install mine with the intent of saving some cash, but kept in mind they may need to be replaced with new packs next year or when ever. When i purchased my lift i was on a tight budget, It happens when you have a little one to take care of. I wouldn't completely shy away from aal if your looking to keep the budget down some, otherwise by all means do new packs then you have no worrys. Just my 2 cents

I agree that the new springs are going to be the best road to take. But, if I can stay on the cheap and have a cool lookin rig for a year till I buy springs, I'm all about it. And considering the solid axles in an XJ, I'm used to the rough ride already. Been dealing with it for a 100,000 miles now.
