Question wannabe XJ owner question

I am looking for a later model XJ with manual tranny (AX-15/NV3550) and 4x4 in the I6, say 91-01 (but 99-01 preferred). Did Jeep actually make this vehicle stock? When I find a manual it is a 2WD. I keep looking at Craigslist/Ebay/Etc for a manual 4WD XJ with no success. Do these even exist from the factory? if so what percentage of production was manual versus auto tranny?

Thanks in Advance... I need to replace my old faithful '77 IHC Scout

Bill

They exist but seem to be rare.. Keep looking. Or buy one with an auto and swap the manual in, if you really have to shift all the time, to be happy.

I have a 99 2 door 4x4 with an ax-15. It took me 2 years to finally find one. They are pretty hard to come by. Just keep checking craigslist.

5spds are harder to come by. heck the only reason i have a 2dr 5spd 4x4 is it was for sale a block from my house and i knew the guy. they are out there but harder find unmolested.

No difference in wheelbase or anything special... the doors are just longer, so they're easier to get in and out of.

They're just AWESOME!!!

When i was searching for one i found a bunch of pre 97 2 doors, but they were all auto's. You just have to get lucky i guess. 2 door xj's look better lifted anyways.

I found one a few months back (99 5spd) after just missing another 5 spd one a few weeks before. I would say in Canada about 1 in 20 are 5spds. I jumped on mine quickly because of this but I have seen several others on our local Craigslist since (even a few 2 doors!).

Keep looking as they are out there but if it is otherwise good you'll have to be quick! No for these!

Default in S. Cal

well if anyone sees an XJ 4x4 with manual tranny for sale in Southern California or vicinity (phoenix, vegas, etc), could you please PM me? I've been watching Craigslist, Ebay, Hankshelper, Cars.com, Autotrader, etc for about 2 weeks now. Manuals come up often in 2x4...

Thanks in advance!
