lightly sprayed-(not a lotta pressure)-cold engine-or actually slightly warm---NOT HOT--should be fine

Yeah cold water and hot metal doesn't mix well.

Make sure to cover up the distributor, air filter (if yours is aftermarket and have a cone filter) and throttle position sensor so you don't get them wet. That would be bad.

Some people say it's fine to get all that wet as long as there is dielectric grease on all the connections but i'd just rather not risk it so I play it safe.

Think fantastic four... lol.

Yeah, when I was cleaning my engine bay, i did it by hand, thought, using engine degreaser. Forgot i just got done with it, ran the engine, and that smoked a bit from heating up. lol.

But if you spray it, check your electric spots, and make make sure they are secure, and probably dry them afterwards and wait a bit to let it dry before it is ran.

Protect distributor, throttle position sensor, alternator.

If you search, you'll find threads from individuals who have had trouble with water intrusion with each and every one of those components.

Can you get lucky? Yes. But if you're not, you have a no-start. You have some control here in your destiny. Take it.

Yeah i didnt spray it much.. i gave it a little spray then stopped when the light on the inside of the hood blew out.. I think i got lucky cause it starts right up and i drove it around and like usual it runs great! If i did ruin something would i have noticed a difference by now?
