voltage guage dropping after driving awhile
Ok so i got off work the other day..got on the hiway and looked down to see my volt guage in the red..went straight to advanced, they hooked her up and said my old ***** battery was bad..big surprise..so 135$ later and sum wrenching i was back on the road..then the same thing after about 25 miles... she runs fine but the lights dim and i can drive for an hour without it happening.. trying to avoid buying an alternator and know if i take to have it tested theyll say its bad ...ugh any suggestions?

if you got a new battery already. it would almost have to be your alternator because once it's started the alternator takes over so if your voltage is dropping your running on battery which won't last long. they will bench test it for you.

good idea. they really should be up higher on the xj. some alternators are just junk my friends went out today. we went and got a new one and the new one failed the bench test straight out of the box.

yeah 150 bucks then it turns out to be junk haha. I know what you mean the factory front skids are great if they didn't want an arm and a leg. the splash shields are ok if in good shape. mine just fell down every 10 minutes.
