I am going to be looking at this 95 Cherokee in the next few days. Any specific things I should look at and check out before I decide if I want to buy it or not?

Check engine lite works and is not on. Front end in good condition as its expensive to repair. Spend the 50 or so bucks to have a shop inspect it if your unsure.
Rust is a killer.
Tires?
This is just a start.
Good oil pressure
Clean coolant-not a rusty mess.
Oil leaking out of the bellhousing-Rear main seal leak

Also be sure to check the 4 wheel drive. High, low forward and reverse. Take it for a decent test drive, just not around the block. Most ppl who know they have a good rig to sell wont have issues with I testing and checking everything out.

Verify every single function. Every one. Take your time; there were a lot of XJs made, so don't get tunnel vision on this one if your gut feeling isn't good.

I agree with checking fluid levels and conditions of oil, transmission fluid and coolant. Thorough check to evaluate amount of rust.

Believable proof of maintenance goes a long, long way in my book. I'd rather buy an XJ with good maintenance and a few more miles than one with less miles and lack of maintenance.
