Default Vibration/Rumble at highway speeds...

Just replaced a wheel hub assembly and ball joints... then took it to get an alignment, drove on the freeway and it pulled right a little... got it back from the shop and now it rumbles from the engine/transmission/transfer-case area when under load (hills)... push the clutch in and the rumble goes away... (replacing the wheel bearing smoothed up the ride and now i notice this rumble)

i don't think its tires because I push in the clutch and it goes away.... its just bug me, and i dont recall having this vibration before.

shoot me some ideas...

How are your tranny mounts? Maybe the slop you had up front was disguising the issue you are seeing now, and it was there all along?

tranny mounts huh? so when torque is put to the transmission sloppy mounts allow for vibrations, which I feel as a low pitched rumble, that goes away when the clutch is pushed in.... i'll have to take a look at them, are they between the transmission and cross member, everything has a thin coat of oil under there, so its hard to tell what some things are.

naw, it goes away when clutch is pressed.

I read some threads about people talking about a nest of hornets sound coming from underneath the cab area, which is similar to my rumble...

so the census is either transmission mount (i do alot of engine braking so that could easily wear that out quickly) and/or harmonic balancer... or something on the belt pulley system.

as long as it isn't driveline related i'll be happy...

If it goes away when the clutch is pressed, it's got to be throw-out bearing. If you're engine RPMs are up, the HB would still vibrate whether there was a load on the engine or not. C/B a trans mount, though, but I've had transmissions that were literally hanging from the output shaft with NO bolts connecting tot he mount and didn't vibrate.
