Ummm...because the vehicle was no longer drivable?

The drivel around here is getting thick.
OK newbie (respectfully).
I have driven numerous times up to 60 mph with no rear driveshaft. Put it in 4-PartTime and go. The ring & pinion is much smaller up front but can handle getting around town or getting home just fine.

Well to get the pinion flat again - or really back to parallel with the transfer case - you can use pinion shims. Small angled blocks that will raise or lower pinion based on how they are installed. They sit between the axle spring perches and the leaf springs.

Interesting thing to write on a site that focuses on 4x4 vehicles. Wow I must have Flintstoned it to that alignment!

^ Sounds like a vote for shims.
I would say 2 degrees.

What would be the best way to find out exactly what degree shim would work best?

How do the u-joints "feel" when the shaft is removed? Did the PO get ham-fisted installing them?

I'll tell you what's getting tiring. It's YOUR attitude and smart-alec remarks that contribute less than nothing. Knock it off.

The u-joints are tight and feel good. The previous owner installed them correctly so I highly doubt its the u-joints. The pinion just seems to angled to high for a 2" lift.
