Good idea. could you point me to a good write-up? Tried to find one but they all seem to be different.

Take the quarter moon shaped piece of tin off where the engine meets the trans at teh bottom. Shine a light up there and you'll see the bolts. 15MM wrench or socket fits them. Rotate the engine around using a 3/4" socket on the front of the crankshaft til one of the bolts is on the bottom. Remove the bolt and you will be able to tell if it's loose. Add LocTite to the threads of the bolt and reinstall it tightly. Rotate the engine til you've done all 4.

Automotive school, huh?

Timing is non adjustable adjusted by the computer. How you gonna adjust it?If you have an older renix 4 banger or v6 are the only ones adjustable I think, newer one's NOT.

Try the flex plate bolts as stated before, if that aint it, drop the oil pan and plastiguage the bearings, not that hard. if you catch it soon enough u may be able to get by with new bearings and replace them.

Not at all. Curious as to whether your instructor would take an interest in your Jeep's issue and help you with it. Possibly other students? I'm sure they have a hoist there you could put it up on to check the flexplate bolts?

Ok, Yes, yes, yes, and no. We only can use the hoist on student days.
