long story made short. my 89 Renix is old and tired. doing a HO long block swap. out of a 94ish. this motor is a crate motor. only 3-4 yrs old. I'm keeping the Renix system.
Can I use the HO valve cover , or do I need to use the Renix? thanks in advance for any advice. cheers.

 

If you are changing the block I would think you would have to use a HO valve cover.

 

the valve cover will bolt up. if you are going to use the CCV system out of the renix, you need to use the renix valve cover.

 

Yep. Best way to go.

Be sure to use your dizzy, flywheel/flexplate and an intake/exhaust gasket for the 89. Also be sure to remove the coolant galley plug from the driver's side of the 94 block so you'll have a place to screw in your coolant temp sensor.

 

does 94 have spot for knock sensor...?

 

They didn't have a knock sensor but the block is drilled and tapped for it.

I understand, but have not confirmed, that the later blocks than that had the hole drilled but not tapped. No big deal.

For all we know, they're all tapped. They're so much hocus pocus about the HO which is completely unfounded. Usually propogated by those who never did a swap.

what's the difference between the. CCV systems. I ask because. I pulled the Renix VC today. and when I compare the Renix to the H.O. I can't see the difference. can you see the difference. is there a difference in the valves inside the cover. ???

 

in the old VC. the rubber is cooked. and there is so much gunk. I've already cleaned the H.O VC. can I use it.?? all the lines look like they will work together ????

 

Looks the same. Are they the same on the bottom?

 

CCV orifice size at the rear of the valve is important. If you were to remove the grommets, you'd see the difference.
