Default Vacuum line front diff

Hi all, I just bought a 2000 cherokee sport with a 4.0L Auto. I found out after I got it home that the vacuum line is missing in the front diff. I found the disco on the diff but where does i go from there? I read some other post and some one was saying soming about a vacuum element and a vacuum switching valve. Any one know where these are at?

Thanks for the help Jeff2000XJ

Im pretty sure a 2000 shouldn't be a disco front axle. Neither my 94 or my 98 are. Someone has probably changed the front axle with an older style.

Great good for you. How does that help or answer the question? If any one knows how the fork on the front diff(FD) works please reply. If I need to I'll take a pic and show the can with the vac line coming off of it on the pasanger side of my jeep let me know. After the vac line leaves the (FD) were does it go from there? What tells the vac line to start suching? Its it on all the time? Your help getting this back together is very much needed. I'm new but not brand new.

I have seen a write-up somewhere on permanently locking the vacuum disconnect so that its always locked in. Ill try to find it for you.

Search "free d30 cad bypass" and you will find everything you need to know.

the vacuum system is different for a older vacuum disco system setup to a newer style non vacuum disco setup. If you really want to make that axle work then you will need a vacuum diagram from a early 90 cherokee and a 00 cherokee and work them together. I assume the reason that axle was put in was to eliminate the low pinion 30 that came in the 00-01 models. I would recommend getting a new passenger shaft to eliminate the two piece shaft and then you would not have to deal with the vacuum issue. The vacuum disco. only causes problems, you will never know if it actually engages.

Just put a cable operated fork on. Then you will know it's locked in for sure. Rusty's offroad has them, I think 200.00 or so.

Thanks for all the info. I dont know the history of this jeep or what the last person did to it. So with that in mind I will most likely go with a cable lock. Again thanks for the help.
